Social Mobilizer (DRR)
Based: Swat Field Office

Contract Period: September 2013-May 2014
Main Responsibilities
/ Duties:
- Assist Project Manager (PM)-DIPECHO in community mobilization for formation of Village Disaster Risk Reduction Committee (VDRRC)
- Assist PM-DIPECHO in mobilization of school for awareness raising campaign
- Assist PM-DIPECHO in awareness raising campaign for earthquake early worming equipment;
- Keep regular record of field activities (daily & weekly) and submit fortnightly reports to the Malteser international Pakistan Project Manager DRR
- Keep a close liaison with the communities through meetings with them on a monthly basis.
- Implement all field activities designed in the DIPECHO project under supervision of PM-DIPECHO
- Facilitate capacity building training programs at community level and assist other project staff in capacity building of UCDMCs and District DMC
Core qualifications:
- At least Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences
- Knowledge of local languages (Urdu, Pashto);
- At least1- 2 years of experience preferably on a DRR project;
Field Officer (Female)
Based: Field Office Swat
Open to external and internal candidates
Contract Period: September 2013- December 2014
Main Responsibilities / Duties
- Support the Project Manager(PM)-DIPECHO and Program Officer in all aspects of implementation of a large-scale community-based disaster risk management program in 5 UCs of Swat District
- Work closely with community members to ensure proper, participatory mobilization of UC and Village-level disaster risk management committees
- Facilitate village-level trainings for community DRR committees, including on-the-ground organization and logistics and advising/support to community Mas-ter Trainers
- Facilitate and assist with participatory community identification and assessment of hazards, coping capacities, response strategies, and etc. using PRA techniques
- Support additional village and school mobilization and awareness activities
- Ensure proper documentation of all activities
- Submit timely and accurate activity reports as directed by PM-DIPECHO
Core qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in social sciences
- 2 years experience with NGO programs in KP, preferably community-based training and mobilization programs
- Ability and willingness to work daily in villages and filed sites, with considerable travel requirements and basic facilities
- Positive attitude with a mind set of delivering participatory development services in a most professional manner
- Ability to plan and work independently, and stick to agreed timeframes and deadlines
- Fluency in Urdu and Pashto, and minimum fair working knowledge of English
- Computer literacy (Windows applications)
- Local resident (desirable)
