Job Opportunity at MuslimAid Karachi

Job Description

Designation: Child Development Facilitator (Female)                                      
Duration:      09 Months (Joining Date: First Week of April, 2014)
Reporting to: Program Officer - RFP
Duty Station: Karachi
Salary:           Rs. 20,000
Qualification & Experience:
Masters in any relevant social field with 3-4 years experience in NGO sector, working in child development and welfare related project/programs will be an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Field visits for submitting child detail forms through data collection, identification and assessment of orphan and vulnerable children from clusters as per defined methodology, and submitting these to the FO ensuring that the procedures are sufficiently maintained at all levels.
  • Maintain and regular update record of activities, disbursements, children data and related documentation.
  • Ensuring timely disbursements to Guardian of child, school visits for monitoring of child education, in-kind donation issued by Islamabad Field Office, maintaining and recording/updating all the financial records in a close liaison with the line supervisor.
  • Submission of monthly cash reconciliation sheets for all the expenses done in month with complete internal audit to line supervisor.
  • Developing and submitting the progress reports of the children as per programme requirement; ensuring that the correct and complete/updated information is being communicated to the donor / HQ.
  • Developing the case studies about achievements of RFP activities of the cluster and submitting to line supervisor as and when required.
  • Monthly door to door visits for data screening, collection of progress updates, follow-ups, monitoring and to get feedbacks of parents.
  • Arrangement/reporting of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities on monthly basis with the creative and novel ideas to give exposure to children.
  • Identifying issues of concerns related to children, their education, health and social up-bringing and suggest and implement solutions in a struggle to develop better living environment
  • Visits and meetings with children as and when required
  • Any other job assigned by Line supervisor.

FIELD COORDINATOR KPK

IN CHARGE OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PROJECT IN

KPK PROVINCE

Starts April, 2014

Since 2009, the Khyber‐Pakhtunkhwa province (KPK, ex‐North West Frontier Province) has been experiencing several crises, following continuous military interventions in various locations which resulted in massive displacements of populations. MdM has been operating to provide access to health care services to both displaced and host populations in KPK since April 2009.

The health system in KPK, and in particular in the areas where a large number of IDPs have settled, appears to be over‐burdened and unable to respond to the increased demand. Indeed, qualified human resources are insufficient; most of the health facilities are partially damaged; drugs and equipment are often not available and the referral system is not functional.

MdM’s approach in KPK is community‐based and principled‐based and relies on the capacity to provide adequate response to fresh crisis in the province as a result of conflict or natural disaster.

KPK project main office is currently located in Islamabad

Job description:
Under the supervision of MdM Country General Coordinator in Pakistan and in interaction with the Country Administrative Coordinator and Country Logistics Coordinator:
  • S/he is in charge of management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the program in line with MdM mandate and framework, project strategy and budget as well as donors’ agreements.
  • S/he manages the national team, ensuring MdM human resources policy and processes.
  • S/he supervises the leading of group dynamic and the work’s coordination.
  • S/he takes part in the design of the project’s strategy.
  • S/he ensures the project’s implementation complies with MdM mechanisms and regulations in all sectors.
  • S/he coordinates, assesses and analyses problems and needs at base and field level and provides the relevant support on all components of the project’s.
  • S/he is in charge of the security of the project and teams in KPK. In this regard, s/he manages the KPK security pool and takes measures accordingly. S/he ensures the security guidelines and mechanisms are well known and respected by all staff members of the KPK team. S/he makes the assessment and analysis of the general context and informs the Gen Co accordingly.

Qualifications and skills required:
Education: graduate/ master in social sciences or other relevant advanced degree

Experience:
  • Previous experience of international humanitarian and/or development in managing and coordinating programs with more than 30 staff members is compulsory.
  • Experience in multi‐discipline program management with a range of donors in a complex operating environment.
  • Experience in security management.
  • Experience in HR management.
  • Expertise: strong skills in full scope of program planning, implementation and monitoring as well as human resources, security and budget management.
Required skills:
  • Project manager, team manager, security manager, analytical, problem solver, good communicator, liaison capacities, pragmatic, thorough and detail‐oriented.
  • Ability to work in highly stressful environment and situations.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel to remote areas in KPK on a regular basis and throughout Pakistan whenever necessary.
  • Fluency in English, Urdu and Pashtu both written and verbal compulsory.
  • Strong knowledge of the KPK context.
Context of employment
The Field Co is under the line management of the Country General coordinator.
The main duty station is in Islamabad; however frequent journeys in projects’ locations in KPK and Peshawar city for coordination meetings.
Security context can imply restricted movements and involves strong security and safety regulations.
This position is a regular salaried position

One year contract with possible extension

Job description
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 670 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.

COUNTRY MANAGER, PAKISTAN (Islamabad)
Responsibilities:
  • To represent GAIN's interests at country level for Pakistan-specific programming and Afghanistan as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of GAIN's country level nutrition strategy, and the identification of GAIN's niche in country, building relationships with key stakeholders including within government institutions, the donor community, NGOs and the private sector.
  • Responsible for identifying concrete opportunities for GAIN's engagement in country, in line with GAINs global strategy and comparative advantage.
  • Responsible for resource mobilization efforts in-country for the continuation and expansion of project activities.
  • To lead and manages all aspects of GAIN's Pakistan Country Office, including program design and proposal development; program implementation; reporting; fiscal planning, and human resource planning.
  • To provide oversight to GAIN's local implementing partners.
  • To contributes to the development of a knowledge base on GAIN's portfolio, Pakistan specifically, and on national and regional trends in nutrition and related issues that might impact on GAIN programming.
  • To contribute expertise as required to teams created by GAIN to address specific issues at regional or global levels.
Experience
  • At least fifteen years' experience in developing and managing projects in a multi-cultural environment, preferably at international level in the private sector, food industry, government or international organizations.
  • Experience in delivering nutrition or food fortification programs or other public health programs in the region is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure is critical.
  • Experience building and leading teams in a startup environment.
  • Proven track record in resource mobilization / business development.
  • Experience of working in Pakistan is highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes
  • Excellent management, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to operate within the corporate and public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, development agencies, and governments in different cultures.
  • Ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment, expert problem solving, and creativity.
  • Strong communication skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural team.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficiency in local languages desirable, but not essential.
Education
  • Master's Degree in food science, nutrition, public health, economics, business administration, or a suitable equivalent.
Other requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally.
