Job description
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is driven by the vision of a world without malnutrition. GAIN is a Swiss based international organization that mobilizes public-private partnerships and provides financial and technical support to deliver nutritious foods to those people most at risk of malnutrition. The organization is delivering improved nutrition to an estimated 670 million people in more than 30 countries, half of whom are women and children.

COUNTRY MANAGER, PAKISTAN (Islamabad)
Responsibilities:
  • To represent GAIN's interests at country level for Pakistan-specific programming and Afghanistan as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of GAIN's country level nutrition strategy, and the identification of GAIN's niche in country, building relationships with key stakeholders including within government institutions, the donor community, NGOs and the private sector.
  • Responsible for identifying concrete opportunities for GAIN's engagement in country, in line with GAINs global strategy and comparative advantage.
  • Responsible for resource mobilization efforts in-country for the continuation and expansion of project activities.
  • To lead and manages all aspects of GAIN's Pakistan Country Office, including program design and proposal development; program implementation; reporting; fiscal planning, and human resource planning.
  • To provide oversight to GAIN's local implementing partners.
  • To contributes to the development of a knowledge base on GAIN's portfolio, Pakistan specifically, and on national and regional trends in nutrition and related issues that might impact on GAIN programming.
  • To contribute expertise as required to teams created by GAIN to address specific issues at regional or global levels.
Experience
  • At least fifteen years' experience in developing and managing projects in a multi-cultural environment, preferably at international level in the private sector, food industry, government or international organizations.
  • Experience in delivering nutrition or food fortification programs or other public health programs in the region is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure is critical.
  • Experience building and leading teams in a startup environment.
  • Proven track record in resource mobilization / business development.
  • Experience of working in Pakistan is highly desirable.

  • Excellent management, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to operate within the corporate and public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, development agencies, and governments in different cultures.
  • Ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and systematic thinking that demonstrates good judgment, expert problem solving, and creativity.
  • Strong communication skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural team.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficiency in local languages desirable, but not essential.
Education
  • Master's Degree in food science, nutrition, public health, economics, business administration, or a suitable equivalent.
Other requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally.

SAP‐PK is a Pakistani development organization working for the uplift of the poor and marginalized communities of Pakistan. It seeks the following qualified and experienced individual for AAWAZ: Voice and Accountability Project in multiple Districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkha:
 
Position: District Program Officer (04)
Location: District Office (Lower Dir, Bannu and Chitral)

Major roles and responsibilities are:
1. Adherence to SAP‐PK’s vision, mission, values and policies and procedures at all the times
2. Provide support in program planning and execution as per program needs and workplans.
3. Implement activities assigned under Aawaz Program and its approved workplans
4. Liaise with District Partner Organizations on regular basis ensuring timely, quality and effective
implementation of district and sub‐district activities;
5. Plan and implement activities as per annual/quarterly/Monthly basis in program area.
6. Prepare annual/quarterly/Monthly basis report and submit to the regional program manager
7. Monitor activities and suggest areas of improvement at field level as well as in office
8. Support implementation partners and technical leads of Aawaz Program in all results and specified
assigned areas at district and sun‐district level
9. Prepare periodic workplans and activity budgets and event reports as and when required;
10. Take approvals of workplans and activities as per SAP‐PK policies and procedures
11. Participate in quarterly and annual reviews at regional and national level and give input for smooth
functioning of the Aawaz program
12. Report on activities on stipulated formats and follow guidelines and quality standards;
13. Any other task assigned by District Program Coordinator.

Qualification: 
Master in Social Sciences

Experience: 
Must have three years relevant experience

Skills and requirements:
1. Candidate from local district will be preferred;
2. Mobilization and Advocacy Skills
3. Report Writing;
4. Written and communication skills;
5. Ability to travel as required;
6. MS‐Office;
7. Others (Self‐driven, results‐oriented, planner, mature, comfortable to visit within and outside the country,
reliable, tolerant, determined, empathic, flexible, accountable, and team‐player.)
